Welcome to CatalysisCourse.com

A catalyst is a substance that accelerates the rate of a chemical reaction without being consumed. Catalysts enable chemical reactions to be carried out under achievable conditions of temperature and pressure, and allow for production routes that minimize formation of byproducts and waste. Biocatalysts (enzymes) enable the chemical conversions that are at the basis of life. Hence catalysis is an extremely important phenomenon, and understanding it in molecular detail is essential for developing new or more efficient applications.

This website presents a few introductory courses on heterogeneous catalysis. The subjects chosen reflect the interest of the presenter, who published books on these subjects that form the basis for the course. However, the video-taped lectures and accompanying handouts are available for free to everyone who wants to use them, as long as proper credit will be given to the source.

Available Courses:

  • Fundamentals of Heterogeneous Catalysis
  • Characterisation of Solid Catalysts
  • Presenting Science
