Fundamentals of Heterogeneous Catalysis
In this course we go over the fundamentals of heterogeneous catalysis. How does a catalyst work on the molecular scale, how do molecules
interact with a surface and how are bonds broken at surfaces?
In addition we introduce the kinetic description of catalytic reactions. We connect the consequences of molecule – surface interaction strength to kinetics,
potential energy descriptions and the famous Principle of Sabatier.
Catalysis is all about having the right species for forming products, under the right conditions at the right surface.
This is our design rule for heterogeneous catalysis.
